Wretch?

It is not only Roman Catholics (see previous post) whom the word "wretch" makes squeamish. Others, too, become uneasy. Here is another revision I found of stanza 1 of Amazing Grace:


Amazing grace, how sweet the sound

That came and set me free

I once was lost but now am found

Was blind, but now I see
